restaurants

Few restaurants offer the views and inner glitz of this Corviglia dining room perched high above the ski mountain where late afternoons pass by in the whiff of freshly shaved truffles and wind of popped Cristal magnums. Contained within a sleek architectural box of cedar siding with jetting terraces and asymmetrical windows, the exterior of the restaurant features a dazzling outdoor area arranged in three-person sun loungers and steamer chairs tossed under a row a outdoor banquettes where winter glitterati sit tucked under their choicest chinchilla-trimmed ski wear. Inside is a slightly more modest scene in the interior dining room with its decidedly modern mix of tumbled stone floors and crackling fireplace arranged under taxidermy artwork and whimsical chandeliers swaying from a timber-pitched ceiling.<br />

The Food

The menu at El Paradiso is aimed at very hungry skiers and be-seen drinkers that don’t mind dropping a few thousand Eur’s on a showy winter lunch. Appetizers include a savory charcuterie plate arranged with gourmet cheeses, beef tartare and odd Tom Kha Gai that’s an odd but fulfilling Swiss rendition of the classic Thai soup. Built as a house of truffles, the menu includes the Perigord Black and White Alba variety being presented on classic potatoes, white polenta with cheese and hearty scrambled eggs. Heavier main courses from far and wide include Coq-a-vin, Wagyu beef cut at the table and Bouillabaisse with fish and shrimp.

Last Word

For fondue lovers, don’t miss the elaborate presentation with exotic selection of sweets and savories perfect for a communal post-slope holiday meal.
